Great Taste, the world’s most trusted food and drink awards, has announced its stars of 2020. First Chop received 2 awards this year for new products ACE and YES.
- All day IPA. 0.5% - our example of a low alcohol beer. At only 0.5% this beer doesn’t hold back on the flavour. A beautiful straw colour on the pour and an overwhelming hoppy burst on the nose, this low alcohol beer isn't shy when it comes to bitter hoppy flavours.
The Great Taste judges’ comments on YES,
“Good clean aroma, no obvious faults, nice lightly gingerbread and spicy nose. The palate has excellent spice with a lovely clean orange zest note, good carbonation and a refreshing bitterness at the end. This is a well-made and well-executed non-alcoholic beer that would go down a treat with anyone who is looking for the experience of beer without the alcohol.”
Rik Garner, First Chop Managing Director, said:
“This is three years on the bounce we’ve received Great Taste awards and we are very proud that the Guild of Fine Food has now additionally designated First Chop as an official Great Taste Producer. What is more, we always enter our products in the main beer not the Free-From category as we firmly believe that our beer more than holds it’s own against gluten containing Beers. We are delighted that these awards from the Guild of Fine Food validate the quality of our product and vision.”
- Mittlefruh lager 4.8% - our take on a Vienna lager, this very drinkable beer uses premium European pilsner malts and noble german hops. Light amber in colour and brewed to be super refreshing.
The Great Taste judges’ comments on ACE,
“In these days of being swamped with 'New age' craft beers with citra, cascade and mosaic hops that deliver such high citrus notes, this is a truly 'Old School' lager and very good for that. It has the sweet fruitiness of a well conditioned lager, but a distinctive hoppy bitterness.”
First Chop is available wholesale from WDS Group, Nectar, Pig’s Ear Beer LTD, Rad Beer and Eebria.
